In the dock 10 people sentenced by magistrates

A DRIVER has been fined £220 after a court ruled that the letters and numbers on his car registration plates were incorrectly spaced. Police spotted Adnan Ebrahim’s Audi A4 with the illegal plates on Jessie Street, Bolton, on February 24.

A RAIL passenger who failed to pay for a £3.60 ticket for a journey from Lostock to Farnworth has been slapped with a £407.60 bill. Liam Corby, aged 30, of Cemetery Road, Bolton, made the journey from Lostock on April 20, but did not produce a ticket when he arrived at Farnworth. He failed to pay the fare and ignored reminder letters. He was fined £220 plus £184 in costs and must pay Northern Rail £3.60 in compensation.

A DRINK-driver who failed to stop after a crash on Market Street, Westhoughton, on October 2 has been banned from the roads for 20 months. Anthony Kirfoot, aged 35, of Wigan Road, Atherton, admitted drink-driving in a Ford Mondeo and not stopping after a collision with a Toyota Prius. Kirfoot was fined £400.

A MAN has been electronically tagged after he admitted obstructing a police officer in Bolton on October 10. Marcus Foster, aged 21, of Lea Gate, Bolton, was sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for four weeks.

A DRINK-driver who had consumed almost three times the legal level of alcohol has been sentenced to do 80 hours of unpaid work. Barry Edmundson, aged 45, of School View, Turton, pleaded guilty to drink driving in a Jaguar X-type on Ramsbottom Road, Bury, on October 24. Edmundson was banned from driving for 23 months.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £198 after he damaged a woman’s patio table. Philip Gerrard, aged 40, of St Johns Road, Lostock, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage. As well as the fine, Gerrard was ordered to pay £230 in compensation and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting the woman.

A THIEF who stole chocolate, worth £54, from Heron Foods in Bolton on November 18 and assaulted a woman has been jailed for 14 weeks. Jack Davies, aged 23, of Westley Court, Westhoughton, was told he has a “flagrant disregard for people and their property”.

A DRIVER who drank more than double the legal level of alcohol has been banned from holding a licence for three years. Stephen Horrobin, aged 37, of Torridon Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to drink driving in a BMW 520 on Connell Close, Bolton, on September 25. As well as the driving ban, he was fined £120.

A VAN driver who had no licence and refused to stop for police has been fined £116. Leon Hampson, aged 39, of Bronte Close, Bolton, committed the offences when he drove a Ford Transit on Long Lane, Bolton, on September 13. Hampson's driving record was endorsed with four penalty points.

MAGISTRATES have banned a motorist from holding a licence for 23 months after he was caught drink-driving on Chorley Road, Bolton, on October 20. Carl Budworth, 33, of Townsfield Road, Westhoughton, admitted having drunk almost three times the legal limit when he drove a VW Scirocco. Budworth was also ordered to undertake 80 hours of unpaid work.
